RHS’s Robotix club recently competed in the FTC qualifier event, taking 1st place and moving to the Norcal Regionals
“The FTC Event went really well. We were fortunate enough to be picked by a very strong alliance partner which pretty much to go from 4th place to number one.” John Fuller said
“I mean I’m pretty excited. As far as I’m aware the team hasn’t been there in a while or at least hasn’t earned their way into it yet. This is the first time in a while we’ve earned our way into the Norcal Regionals” Shane Jenkins said
The Robotix team used a claw to move clips around the arena. When placed in a bucket or hung on a rod the team scores a point. This and the team’s use of raw materials allowed them to win more than the competition.
“They are made from custom parts, raw materials such as sheet metal. They are then Fabricated and Deburred to essentially make a pretty custom robot. We also received two other rewards for just having a very unique and cool design of a robot that used a lot of raw materials” Fuller said.
Robotics is a great way for students to learn more about the engineering pathways
“I’m interested in being a mechanical engineer. One of Mr. Fuller’s selling points was if you want to be any kind of engineer out of school, this is the kind of club to be in.” Shane said
