RHS sophomore Holden Baer has been assembling and mixing music for his friends who live out of state for a year now.
“What got me into music mixing was that I had some friends who needed to produce their sounds, so I thought I was kinda into it. The bands I mix for are Boxfan and Wavelane, and they’re both from Toledo, Ohio. I met the people from Boxfan first, and then I met this guy from Wavelane, Joey, through Boxfan,” Baer said
Baer’s mixing process includes changes in volume and sounds. Depending on how the band wants it to sound, this process can take a day or two.
“There are effects on every track, and when I do the kick, before you really can’t hear it too well. When you put the effects on it, it has more of a presence and a punch. With the snare, it’s very dark-sounding, and you can’t hear it. With the effect, you can hear it better. With the overheads, the mics that go over the drum kit, it sounds pretty good, but you give it more of a presence and a feel, it sounds better,” Baer said
Baer wants to grow his skills as a producer and leave California.
“I wanna go and get a recording studio all set up and get some bands going. Hopefully get a recording label,” Baer said
