RHS Freshman Neda Shaz Mirzad has been in the process of expanding her henna business towards classmates and other peers.
“So what got me into henna was that it’s always been a part of my culture, where I am, and it just shows like a lot of creativity in the way that I can do things. The business was just to like raise money honestly for you know a band and everything, so I’m going to be donating the money,” Mirzad said.
After learning and gaining experience with henna for almost five months, Mirzad’s design palette has increased over time.
“I do any kind of designs: waist, legs, you want flowers, turtles, I do everything,” Mirzad said.
Having just started with close friends, and now hoping to expand towards classmates, freshman Myra Morgan has had her henna done before by Mirzad.
“She did like a Maui theme. It was on my arm and was like a swirl and a sun … It lasted for like two to three weeks even if I could scrub it, it would still be there. And she’s really good at henna,” Morgan said.
Mirzad’s hobby-turned-career was inspired by her culture and being exposed to it growing up, which is what led her to start her business. Mirzad brought up the idea to Morgan that they could match henna, and offered to do it for her.
“.. I thought it would be a fun opportunity. It’d be really cute in the summer,” Morgan said. gregregreggrgregr
After doing Morgan’s, she decided to expand to more people, create an Instagram, and post flyers up around the school.
“I charge depending on where you get it and what you get. Hands are $10, arms are $15, and then full arms, like hands from shoulders, are like $30. Legs are $25 and then waists are $15. I have already made posters that I’m going to put around school. I’m on Tiktok and Insta under @angels_luvhenna and @angels_luvshaz. People just DM me on there and just say “Hey I want henna,” Mirzad said.
