Each year, Roseville City School District hands out their annual classified employee of the year awards in seven different categories. This year, three staff members from Roseville High won an award.
“So our classified employees of the year from Roseville High School were Sharon Bresslein who is our nutrition services lead, Phillip Tolok who is one of our paraeducators, and Jacqueline Seider who is our college and career technician,” Principal Ashley Serin said.
The winners feel extremely grateful to be recognized for their reward.
“It’s very exciting actually,” Seider said. “I believe that it’s bringing some attention to the position that I hold because there’s one of us at every single one of our school sites, and so the college and career formerly known as technicians, we are now known as college and career service specialists, and I just hope that again this brings some attention to the hard work that my team does every single school year and the connection that we make with kids.”
“In the beginning I was surprised, and then the excitement kicked in,” Bresslein said. “I am honored and thankful to them for recognizing me for this award and I love what I do. When the kiddos are fed, my day is complete.”
Bresslein and Seider believe that they were acknowledged because of their dedication and positive attitudes.
“My supervisor said this recognition is for being positive and available for things that they ask me to do, also for good report with the staff and that I’ve been with the food service department for eighteen years,” Bresslein said.
“I think overall connecting with students is my passion, I’ve been working in this position since 2014, and I’ve been at the school since 2008. I just love being a part of the Roseville High School culture, I think all of us, we just connect with kids and love our jobs and try to do them as well as we can. I’m very honored and humbled to have received the recognition,” Seider said.
None of the other schools in the district won as many awards as Roseville High did this year. Every winner now counts as a candidate for the county awards.
“Nope, so we have the most, three,” Serin said. “I think there was another school that may have had two, I don’t remember but yeah we have the most and the other four are spread out. Their names are also going to be forwarded to the county awards, so they are now nominees to receive the classified employee of the year for the entire county so we’ll have to wait and see where that goes, but I’m just so proud of them. Huge shoutout.”
