Every month, students at RHS receive a certificate based on their actions around campus. The staff awards these certificates to students.
“Every month the Positive Behavior Intervention and Support team recognizes one student per teacher at the end of the month. PBIS then gives prizes to the kids in senior square and then at the end of the month the student will receive a certificate and that will tell them when to go to senior square. At the end of the semester, every student who was recognized will invited to a barbeque,” Handling said
Some students feel extremely honored to receive these awards and to be recognized by their teachers.
“Yeah, I felt really good to be recognized and I think it was for the being respectful and I’m glad Mrs. Jones gave me that reward,” Amaya Richardson said.
“Honestly I felt proud to have received it and I felt proud to be a tiger. Overall I was just happy I was getting a reward to show how hard I worked at ROAR and how hard I strived to be good in my studies,” Jenna Brown said.
Throughout the selection process student actions are considered when a teacher is making their decision along with the aspects of ROAR.
“I think it really boils down to demonstrating ROAR as a whole. If they’re using their manners which is a huge piece of respect which is great. Not going up to the teacher and saying ‘Hey am I being respectful’. It’s more of looking deep and genuinely pulling out that trait. The same with being on task and not disrupting their peers. Aware would be picking up trash on campus. Anyone, not only teachers, can recognize teachers,” Handling said.
