With bands competition season coming to an end they have gained many wins but also want to improve themselves going into future seasons.
“We have one more competition left. Friends and family night Thursday meaning that all our friends and family come and watch us perform. The way we’re preparing to do that is just a lot of practice. When we have competitions, we get judge tapes and they give us a lot of feedback and we’re just taking that and applying it. That’s mostly what we’re working on so that this comp season finishes off strong,” Vasquez said.
“We are coming up on our last comp so this is gonna be our last practice on Thursday. We’re just doing as many reps as we can and getting it as perfect as it can for champs and hoping that we win,” Parsons said.
Due to the loss of many seniors in the band, it is up to the underclass man and juniors to continue the winning streak.
“A year of fixing our band, we just lost a bunch of seniors so now we’ve got a lot of freshmen and the whole point is just getting better,” Vasquez said.
“Every season is kind of a building block going into the next, mainly just getting students acclimated to the culture, especially our freshman. So that they can pass on the tradition going into the next season is the main way we prepare,” Austin said.
The band has won many of their competitions and constant practice going into future seasons can help the band improve overall.
“The most important part about comp season is having fun and getting better then how we were the last comp. It’s not about one-upping someone else, it’s about one-upping ourselves,” Vasquez said.
“We have one more competition, it’s tomorrow, so far this year we have been undefeated in the categories of color guard, and the categories of the visual captions so that’s all of our choreography and all of our drills that we have on the field. Every single competition we’ve come in first so we’ve been undefeated in that realm so we’re trying to continue that trend going into tomorrow. We have one more left so we’re just gonna try our best going into union city tomorrow,” Austin said.
