Senior Ben Rostram has been given the exciting opportunity to work with the FBI in the future. With great passion and immense information on the occupation, Rostram has found great excitement with the occasion. It all started when he received a special email.
“So I got a random email from Independence High School, they sent me this opportunity and I was gonna check it out and I was just doing it while I was in class, so yeah. It was like five pages long, it was an essay, a bunch of ‘what do you do outside of school’, your extracurriculars, your GPA in there, you have to put your aspirations, and then the essay was about how you demonstrate one of the FBI’s core values,” Rostram said.
Rostram has done numerous things to prepare himself for his golden chance. He wishes to pursue any preparation he can in order to set himself up for success in the future.
“I’ve done a lot of research, I made a whole slideshow about why I want in on the FBI and presented that into a college class the other day, I’ve also, like I said, done the teen academy and I’ve just talked with professionals around the areas,” Rostram said.
Rostram’s dream spot lies as a linguist and he must take specific steps in order to pave the way. Steps he is already going after. He has utilized his love for the organization and language to fuel his motivation to chase this occupation.
“I really like foreign language, and there’s not a lot of careers that offer positions by learning foreign languages so what I want to do is be an interpreter for the FBI and then eventually become an agent so I would become a contractor first and then after a couple of years I would transition into the FBI as an employee,” Rostram said.
