There are plenty of creative hobbies out there, one of them being photography. Freshman Emiliano Zarco chose to participate in the activity and has been interested for years now.
“I’ve been interested in photography for like nearly two years. It gives you a pretty good opportunity to share your experiences,” Zarco said.
Zarco discovered his love for the hobby through a family member on a trip they took. Although he considers it a great passion of his, he plans to keep it as an occasional activity to enjoy himself.
“I started because my sister let me use one of her cameras while we were out on a hike and I realized, I kind of like this. I really don’t plan on having photography as like a full time career, it’s gonna be more of a hobby for me,” Zarco said.
Zarco sources his materials second hand. Being a seasoned photographer now, he has formed his own opinions on what he likes and does not like.
“Usually from thrift stores or like just from random yard sales from old people. I kinda like street photography. I don’t really like nature,” Zarco said.
Zarco favors certain cameras over others, but sticks with the idea that photography is an accessible hobby for anybody willing to try.
“As of right now, I have like three cameras, because I sold most of my stuff. My favorite camera out of all three of them has to be my fuji film fine pix z1, that was like my first camera I ever started out with. It is difficult if you want it to be difficult really, but most of the time for me, it’s kinda easy,” Zarco said.
Zarco does not plan to overthink a possible future in photography. Instead, he just focuses on enjoying his hobby.
“I haven’t really set any goals for myself in photography but sometime, I’ll get around to it, yeah,” Zarco said.
