After partial implementation, Roseville’s new tardy policy has been fully integrated this year.
“This year we started off with a new tardy policy, which is essentially four tardies in a grading period will lead to a consequence. The purpose is to improve student behavior and ensure that students are in the classroom.” Serin said.
Students have mixed feelings about the new policy.
“I think it’s a good way to keep students from skipping class, but it’s also kind of hard on the people in the mornings who have a hard time getting rides.” Biagioni said.
“I like it a lot. I think it builds truancy and a sense of urgency on getting to class.” Blanson said. “I think it’s good, especially for kids like me, who take their time getting to class.”
Principal Serin believes that the new policy has been very effective.
“I have seen a lot of success with this policy so far. We have a lot of students whose tardies have gone down drastically. We’ve had more kids who are in class on time. It’s just been phenomenal.”
