Construction that began over the summer this year at Roseville High is in full swing. Campo Street is blocked off, the pool and tennis courts are being built, and the 500 wing is under construction.
“In between the 400, 500, and 600 wings, there was some serious underground root damage to a lot of the walkway areas that created safety issues, like rise of concrete and broken drainages.” Wilson said. “To remedy that, part of the project has been to correct all of those drains, but unfortunately having to remove a few trees. Hopefully we will have those areas completed by the time winter comes around.”
Greg Burt, a teacher in the 500 wing, finds the noise very distracting during the school day.
“We hear the noise during class. It’s pretty quiet for the most part, and I have a loud voice, so I can usually speak over the noise. But the other day, we heard some loud booms where those big booms just shook the whole building.” Burt said.
“It’s something that we know that as a school that we’re going to go through for the next few years, and we’re just going to have to find ways to deal with the distractions.”
Students also agree that the noise can be distracting during the day.
“When I’m just kind of walking around campus or trying to get a muffin. I hear it throughout the day, and it’s just getting annoying.” Max Lobato said.
“In my second period class, 604, we can hear all the construction noises.” Spencer Kriner said. “All the backing up, beeping, and sometimes the entire class will shake and vibrate every time the construction team is working. It’s really distracting and it’s super loud.”
