RHS PE teacher Greg Granucci is teaching a brand new PE class called Advanced PE, where students play a variety of PE games.
“So what we do in advanced class is just games, so there are no fitness days like there is in regular PE classes, there’s not a lot of written work, it’s pretty much get dressed out, get warmed up, get into our teams and we start playing,” Granucci said.
Advanced PE requires students to only pass their core classes to have access to the class.
“That’s a really good question, you have to have passed or completed PE9 and PE 10. So you have to finish your core classes then you can take the advanced pe class,” Granucci said.
Since Advanced PE is not a mandatory class, every student that signs up for it wants to be there and be active in the class
“The beauty about teaching an elective class is that they signed up for it, it’s not a mandatory class for them to graduate. They wanna be there. They pass by dressing out and getting warmed up. They are here to play games, so that’s what we do. My job is to organize them into teams and get them into units that they like, so they can be really competitive and play the games they want to play,” Granucci said.
RHS students Landon Jorgensen and Carter Maldonado highly recommend this class for any student to take.
“I would definitely recommend Advanced PE to other ballers out there cause we have a lot of fun and we really just out there getting some reps in,” Maldonado said.
“I think every student should take Advanced PE. Especially senior year, colleges are looking for those serious classes and this is a serious class. Right now we are playing badminton, me and Carter Maldonado. He carries me but we are still winning games,” Jorgensen said.
