What do you like most about being an artist?
I like the freedom of expression, and it’s limitless. You can do whatever you want. You don’t have to be good as long as you convey your emotions and what you want to convey. I like it because when I’m in a bad mood, or however I’m feeling I can draw it on paper. It’s cool to look back and remember how you felt or what you thought. It’s also cool to look back over the years and see your improvement.
Are you interested in pursuing art later in life?
Yes. I am going to Savannah College of Art and Design for animation to be an animator.
When did you become interested in art?
I became interested in drawing seriously in seventh grade because a friend of mine was a really good artist. I really like cartooning and how cute everything was, and I really got into cute things and then it grew from there.
How do you feel when you create a piece of artwork?
Everyone has a different style and I really like seeing everyone’s style. I worked really hard to create my style and I like implementing the things that I’ve learned over the years and what I’ve picked up and what I’ve created. It all feels original. I like the sense of satisfaction when you can walk away and come back to it and say to yourself, ‘Wow. That’s really good.’
