LIVESTREAM: Tigers square off against Yuba City in first round of playoffs

Tonight, the varsity boys basketball team will take on the Yuba City Honkers in the first round of the Sac-Joaquin Section Division II playoffs.

The Honkers finished this season 17-10 overall and 9-3 in Tri County Conference league play. That record was good enough for third place in the conference behind Inderkum and Rio Linda, who finished first and second, respectively.

Averaging 69 points per game, the Honkers offense seemingly had more success than the Tigers’, which managed 60 ppg. However, the Honkers seem to have a boom-or-bust offense, only putting up 45 points against the San Lorenzo Rebels in one game but then turning things around and dropping 103 on the Pioneer Patriots.

The Tigers, on the other hand, had their moments of dominance on offense and only failed to score 50 points or less three times the whole season.

Defensively, the two teams match up very well. Roseville surrendered 1548 points, good for a 57.3 point per game average, while Yuba City gave up 1543 points, which averages out at 57.1 points per game. Both defenses were consistent as well, as neither rarely ever had a bad game. Between the two teams, only 60 points have been allowed in a single game 13 times.

The game will be held tonight at Roseville High School in Moeller Gym at 7:00 p.m.
