Yesterday the freshman, JV and varsity basketball teams played games against the Antelope Titans. The freshman and JV teams emerged victorious, but varsity lost.

The first game of the night saw the freshmen defeat their Titan opponents. Guard Tanner Rubey said the Tigers came out fast and energetic and were able to build a big enough lead to ride to the finish.

“We played really well in the first half,” Rubey said. “I think that was because we knew that we had to because Antelope was a good team.”

According to Rubey, this was one of the team’s best showings this year.

The JV team won their game with a score of  80-55, continuing its dominance. The Tigers led the Titans 40-29 at halftime and drained a total of 14 three-pointers throughout the game. The team is now 20-2 overall, 9-0 in league and in first place. The Ponderosa Bruins sit in second place with a 7-2 record.

The varsity team was the only team to lose to the Titans and was defeated by a score of 50-39. The Titans held the Tigers to the lowest amount of points they have scored in a single game thus far in league.

This loss hurts the Tigers’ playoff chances as they are now tied for 3rd place at 6-3 with the Cosumnes Oaks Wolfpack, who they will take on tomorrow at home. The first time these two teams met, the Wolfpack took a 53-50 victory.
