Friday night, the girls varsity soccer team continued their undefeated streak, as they beat the Ponderosa Bruins,1-0, handing the Bruins their first loss this year. The win bumped the Bruins off of first place and promoted the Tigers to the top of the league. The only goal of the game came from sophomore Amber Pon, assisted by Mackenzie Gill. Gill was overall happy to beat the team who was originally in first place, and reflects on the victory.

“They were a good team but Amber scored in the second half and we held them off for the rest of the game,” Gill said.

She also looks forward to the rest of the season, noting the team’s improvement on last season’s section championship.

“I’m proud of our success this year,” Gill said. “Last year we lost to Ponderosa when we went there and this time we won. This shows we are improving and are capable of doing  even better than we did last year.”

The tigers look to stay undefeated tonight when they face off against the Oakmont Vikings at home.
