BASKETBALL: Varsity boys win first preseason game

With the 2017 boys basketball season kicking off this Monday the varsity level played a foundation game hosting the Placer Hillmen. This foundation is a fundraiser game to raise money for the section for future events.  The varsity team ended up winning the game 87- 53 and head coach Greg Granucci believes the team showed great offensive game all around and unselfish.

“I thought of being unselfish and playing together – that stood out,” Granucci said. “Offensively we were pretty good and defensively we need some work.”

Varsity player Jase Giorgi believes that team also played very unselfish and looking great going forward to future season games in the section.  Giorgi likes especially how his team can become a dominant defensive team.

“Basically the main thing I saw coming out of that game was we can really be a good defensive team,” Giorgi said.  “Also I believe the best defensive team can win it all.”

The athletes believes that they bring a lot of excitement to the table with their first win. Coach Granucci believes the team has great potential leading into the season even though the game on Monday doesn’t count towards the division record.

“I think this team has a lot of potential going forward,” Granucci said.  “We have a long way to go still, but with how we played our first game and how we started gets the team excited.”
