Last Friday, the varsity Tigers closed out the preseason against River Valley, losing by a score of 59-13. Junior tight end Jackson Esparza thinks the team will be able to bounce back from the loss, as they showed signs of high potential throughout the game.

“We showed signs of pretty high potential at the end of the second quarter,” Esparza said. “They just played better than us.”

The Tigers, who have lost the first three games of the season, have a bye week this week, and open up league play against the Del Campo Cougars next Friday in the annual homecoming game.

Esparza believes the week off will help the team better prepare for next week’s game.

“The energy in the Tiger Cage has been crazy the last two games, and I hope it returns for the homecoming game,” Esparza said. “This week off will help us prepare and give us a better chance to win.”

The Tigers take on Del Campo on September 22 in the homecoming game.
