The varsity boys volleyball team advanced to the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I championship game after defeating the Nevada Union Miners 3-0 on Tuesday. The boys won in dominating fashion, with set scores of 25-17, 25-9 and 25-11.

“I think we played really well,” junior outside hitter Cooper Baddley said. “Everything that we’ve been working towards all year just clicked [Tuesday] night. We played good volleyball.”

After strong performances in their two prior playoff games, senior outside hitter Jeffery Oh feels that the boys’ confidence is at its peak heading into Saturday’s championship game against the Whitney Wildcats and that the boys are ready to win the section title that has eluded them the past two years.

“I think our confidence is at an all-time high,” Oh said. “We’re going into the game with two strong performances and we’ve already beaten Whitney twice this season so we know what we need to do to win.”

The Tigers are no strangers to section championship games, losing twice consecutively in the past two years. The Tigers hope they can break the curse this Saturday at 6 p.m. at Whitney High School against the Wildcats.
