Last night, the boys tennis team traveled to Cosumnes Oaks for an away matchup and came back with a 5-4 victory over the first-place Wolfpack.

Junior Jamie Bateman and sophomore Cooper Cerecedes played for the Tigers in the match’s deciding doubles game. The duo dropped the first set before coming back from a 5-2 deficit in the second set to force a decisive third set. The pair was able to secure the game with a 6-4 win, also winning the match for the Tigers.

Cerecedes was glad to secure the win for the Tigers against the current league leader.

“I know that when we lost the first time we felt pretty bad,” Cerecedes said. “To be able to avenge our loss,  especially with a comeback – it felt really good.

Senior Thomas Okelberry felt that the win felt even better because of the comeback fashion in which it was done and also feels that the momentum and experience from this game will help the team going forward.

“Yeah definitely a lot of momentum that will spring us into the final part of our season,” Okelberry said. “When we play Whitney and Oakmont we may have to come from behind, and now we know we can do it.”

The Tigers travel to Antelope on Thursday for a match against the Titans.
