Vanilla Sky is a mind bending thriller that boasts amazing visuals and an all-star cast to create an intriguing story that leaves the viewers guessing from beginning to end.

Tom Cruise stars as magazine designer David Aames, who lives like there is no tomorrow until one day when his life turns upside down as he gets into a near fatal car accident. As soon as he gets into the accident, you slowly start to lose grasp on the story as it becomes more and more confusing the further you go into the movie.

Along for the ride in Aames’ story is Kurt Russell, Cameron Diaz, Penelope Cruz and Jason Lee. All of them contribute something to the confusing plot and give great performances.

I really love what director Cameron Crowe did with this movie. It’s so well done and he does a great job of putting in multiple hints throughout the film that leave for a lot of rewatchability. Aames gets easily one of the best and probably one of my favorite performances out of Cruise as he does an amazing job of portraying a guy whose life is slowly going into shambles.

Vanilla Sky is one of my favorite guilty pleasure movies. It never fails to engross me in its world each and every time because it creates such realistic and grounded characters. Cruise of course nails his role and has a great supporting cast behind him especially some awesome performances from Penelope Cruz and Kurt Russell.

The reason I love Vanilla Sky so much is because it’s such a unique and interesting story that was put in the right hands. And very few movies I watch nowadays keep me guessing until the very end. I highly recommend people give this film a watch, especially now that it’s on Netflix and Hulu.
