An unknown suspect spray painted the letters “KKK” and a swastika in red on the outside wall of the band room adjacent to the Campo Street alley Thursday morning. By intervention period, maintenance painted over the graffiti.

The incident took principal David Byrd aback.

“I was stunned, I was shocked, I was sickened to come to work today,” Byrd said. “It has an emotional response for me and for a lot of people.”

The suspect is still unknown. Byrd reported the incident to the Roseville Police Department. According to him, RPD is investigating this incident as a hate crime. He said administration does not tolerate racist acts.

“I’m saddened that this kind of thing had to happen anywhere, but certainly on a high school campus,” Byrd said.

Byrd said admin will “beef up security” this weekend.
