GAMIN’ WITH GABE: ‘Alto’s Adventure’ nails addictive niche of mobile sidescroller

GABE TOWNSEND

Alto’s Adventure is a mobile indie game made by game developer Noodlecake games. This is an endless Temple Run type game, except in a side-to-side, 2-D fashion. The visuals and sound are incredibly stunning and the gameplay is incredibly smooth.

In the game you play as a young man named Alto who rides his snowboard up and down hills trying to catch his escaped llamas. Each llama you capture, all the combos you do and the distance you travel combine to produce your total score at the end of each run. You can backflip, grind on bunting lines and rooftops, slide super fast on ice, jump over and bounce off rocks and ride away from elders who chase you on sleds.

There is also a zen mode where your game will never end even if you crash land. The zen mode is made for relaxed playing and enjoying the visuals of the game.

There is a leveling system in the game, too. Every level has three challenges and once you complete all three you move to the next level. Every ten levels you unlock a new character with slightly different statistics than the others.

Alto’s Adventure is a great casual game to play on the go or just at home and really deliverers a good experience. The game is $4.99 on the app store and free in the google play and amazon app stores.
