GAMIN’ WITH GABE: ‘Soul Knight’ proves a rare gem in shallow mobile gaming industry

GABE TOWNSEND

Mobile gaming is something I feel is extremely underrated, taken advantage of and in need of better game developers. It is very rare for me to find a mobile game that I genuinely enjoy and consider an actual video game. There are few games that I want to go back to constantly and further my progress. Most mobile games that are actually good are sometimes downplayed because they aren’t on an actual gaming platform.

Soul Knight is a 2D, rogue-like, randomly generated dungeon exploration game. This game proves that something really amazing can be done with mobile gaming. In Soul Knight, you can play as eight different classes all with different abilities and statistics.

The game uses an auto-aim system so the player can focus more on dodging and attacking enemies. Basically as long as you are facing an enemy, you will shoot toward them. Something nice this game does is not throw ads at you. You are able to revive yourself with an ad if you die instead of paying two hundred in game credits. As much as I hate ads, I understand why the developers would include this. It’s a free-to-play game and money has to be made somehow.

The gameplay is highly addictive and you can play wherever you want even without an internet connection. Updates are hopefully going to come soon to expand this already awesome game. The game is currently only on Google Play but will release on iOS later this year.
