The freshman boys basketball went 1-2 in their tournament at Woodcreek this past weekend.

According to small forward Will Bautista and point guard Tanner Rubey, the Tigers didn’t play as well as they would have hoped but felt that they started off the weekend with a 61-33 win over Nevada Union, but didn’t have enough momentum to finish strong.

Terrell Williams led the team with 14 points in the first game, which gave the Tigers an early jump over the Miners.

The boys lost to the Lincoln Zebras 53-36 in the second game of the tournament. Williams led the team again with eight points.

In the final game of the tournament the Tigers lost to the Del Campo Cougars 69-47.

Both Ethan Cunningham and Phillip El-Chemali led the team with eight points each.

Coach Doug Irwin felt the team struggled with fundamental things the boys typically do well which would have changed the outcome of the game.

“We just had trouble making shots in the second half after being down by two at halftime,” Irwin said.

The Tigers will play the Del Oro Eagles tomorrow night.
