The freshman boys basketball team beat the Woodcreek Timberwolves in overtime 67-58 last night at home last Tuesday.

The Tigers came back after being down by seven points in the fourth quarter and ended up tying the game at 54 late down the stretch.

Coach Doug Irwin believes that the team played well and was happy to come out on top with the win, especially without two of the team’s usual starters.

“The whole team stepped up and contributed their part in order to get the win,” Irwin said.

One standout player of the night, Tanner Rubey, felt the team played well together and was happy with the outcome.

“I think we pushed the ball well and had pretty good defense and ended up on top,” said Rubey.

Rubey has high expectations for the rest of the season as long as the boys continue to play like they did against the Timberwolves.

The Tigers will take on the Golden Eagles at Del Oro High School on Tuesday.
