The varsity boys soccer team battled against the Placer Hillmen at home last Friday and squeezed out a 1-0 victory with a goal from sophomore forward Austin Wehner.

Wehner explains that the team’s passing was lacking in the first half but that the boys were able to clean it up in the second.

“The first half we kind of struggled a little bit connecting passes,” Wehner said. “Then we kind of sorted it out the second half and started connecting passes a lot more and a lot more working together.”

Wehner also added that their adjustments made were able to pay off in the second half by allowing the team to score.

“So Pedro [Rivas] got a through ball, and he went to the end line and laid it off ,” Wehner explained. “I was around the top of the eighteen and I took a touch and they closed down and I just kind of put it in the bottom right corner.”

The boys are 3-0-2 and face the 2-3 Del Campo Cougars tonight at 7:00 p.m.
