Roseville gears up for rivalry matchup with Woodcreek

SAM TOOMEY

Since Roseville High School moved out of the Sierra Foothill League, their rivalry with Woodcreek has diminished with many sports teams not facing each other; basketball, however, has not. Roseville has played Woodcreek once in each of the last two seasons. This matchup will be different, because it’s the first game of this rivalry played at the Moller gym since Roseville’s move to the CVC.

The varsity Tigers are 4-3 on the season and face the task of playing Woodcreek’s 6’11 Jordan Brown and two dynamic guards in Tyrell Roberts and Kyle Kern. Woodcreek has seven wins and zero losses and is coming off of winning the Gridley Invitational basketball tournament. Roseville may not have the same success this season, but this should be a competitive game because this is one of the most storied rivalries in Roseville history.

Tipoff is at 7 p.m. tomorrow.

If you are unable to attend, you still have the opportunity to watch this matchup on Eye of the Tiger’s
