Mural club continues to sketch and paint this year’s new mural in the west 900 building. According to mural club president Taysia De Mesa, the mural will represent all of the classes and programs within the 900s.

De Mesa anticipates that this mural will run more smoothly than last year’s “ROAR” mural on the side of the library.

“The thing we are doing different this year is that instead of outside, we are going to put the mural inside,” De Mesa said. “That will kind of eliminate everything that was hindering us from working a lot of the times, and also we have better participation this year.”

De Mesa tried to make her own schedule more flexible than the president’s last year to help maintain high participation.

“This year I am going to try to make it a goal outside of my jobs and everything to try and be a proactive kind of person so everyone takes it seriously,” De Mesa said.

She looks forward to the finished product and expects the mural to be completed by June.

“I wanted to give the mural something specific to the area and give it something unique and attached to the building,” De Mesa said. “To lay out the design is going to be the hardest part but once we get going we should have the mural mostly done probably by the end of the year.”
