Seniors Isabelle Bautista and Jordan Eaton revived the SOAR club, the Student Organization for Animal Rights, which was discontinued in the 2014-15 school year with then Mr. Brink. The new iteration met for the first time during lunch yesterday.

The club’s goal is to advocate for animal rights and promote a healthy lifestyle among the club members.

According to Bautista,  one of her inspirations behind starting the club derives from her recent transition to a vegan lifestyle.

“For me I recently became vegan and my mom is vegan so I felt like exposing people to what’s going on and bringing awareness,” Bautista said. “I  feel like people are actually interested and everybody loves animals.”

According to Eaton, the wellness of animals has always been a significant part in her life and she wants to pursue that in SOAR Club.

“I’ve always had a deep love for animals and wanting to protect them has been one of my goals in life,” Eaton said. “ I just wanted to reach out to other people and give them accessible ways to help animals.”

Senior Delaney Grimes hopes to leave a good example behind for her younger peers using the information she will learn from this club.

“Even though I’m a senior and leaving soon, I hope to leave a good influence for the younger generation,” Grimes said.
