In the past two weeks, varsity football team beat two previously undefeated teams — the Cosumnes Oaks Wolfpack and Del Campo Cougars. This week, they will be thrown back into the fire in a game against the Antelope Titans. The Titans are currently 5-0 overall and 2-0 in league with wins over Ponderosa and Oakmont.

In last week’s matchup, the Tigers took on the Cosumnes Oaks Wolfpack who arguably has the best defense in the Central Valley Conference. This week, they face off against, arguably, the best offense in the CVC. Averaging 45.8 points per game, the Titans have large play capabilities.

Senior running back Elijah Dotson leads the attack, having already eclipsed 1300 all purpose yards on the season. One of the other playmakers on offense is Garrett Chapman, a senior wide receiver who averages 103 receiving yards per game and has already found the end zone three times this season.

The defense has been just good enough to allow the Titans to win, surrendering 23.8 points per game. The Titans are almost the complete opposite of the Tigers’ previous Wolfpack opponents.

The Wolfpack had a stellar defense and a decent offense, but the Titans have a great offense and an alright defense. Dotson is also one of the best defensive player on the Titans, as he has recorded an interception and three passes deflected.

This game, on paper, looks to be a classic shoot out. The Tigers come in with the second best offense in the CVC, boasting an impressive 36.8 points per game. This game is going to come down to whose defense plays better, and up until this point the Tigers have had the better defense, allowing just under 20 point a game.

The Tigers have already proven that they are a competitor in the CVC, and beating Antelope would move them into, at the least, a tie for first place in league.
