The Roseville Tiger’s varsity volleyball team lost their second league game to the Whitney Wildcats. The match was played in four sets — the Wildcats winning 25-12, the Tigers winning 25-21 and the Wildcats winning the last two 25-19 and 25-9.

Junior hitter Sydney Richardson had high expectations for the game, but felt that the team fell short of their abilities. She didn’t think the team’s communication was as strong as usual.

“I think we were not really playing as well as we usually do in the first place, and I think we didn’t play as scrappy as we normally do,” Richardson said.

The team travels to Ponderosa High school for Wednesday’s game, and Richardson hopes they are able to win and end their two-loss streak.

JV

The girls JV volleyball team took on the Whitney Wildcats on Monday, winning the first set by a score of  25-12 and the third set by a score of 15-8.

Freshman middle Kate Slack thinks the team has been playing very well as of late, and hopes to continue playing like this for the rest of the season.

“We have been playing really well lately, and we have constantly been improving,” Slack said. “Hopefully we continue to play like this the rest of the season.”

The Tigers have started off league with an impressive 5-0 record and remain undefeated overall. Slack thinks that record is a result of the team’s hard work.

“We have been working really hard in practice, and I think it is really starting to show in our record,” Slack said.

The Tigers travel to Ponderosa High School on tonight to take on the Bruins, looking for their sixth consecutive league win.

Freshman

The freshman girls volleyball team took on the Whitney Wildcats on Monday, winning the first two sets and picking up their fifth consecutive league win.

Freshman setter Samantha Beaman thinks the team has really improved since the beginning of the season, and hopes to maintain their undefeated record.

“We have been playing really well, and our team has shown a lot of improvement so far,” Beaman said. “Hopefully we continue to play like this and end up winning league.”
