FASHION: Senior Bridgett Hirsch derives style from confidence
September 19, 2016
How would you describe your style?
From freshman year up until now I’ve changed styles because freshman year was very dark, not emo, but a lot of black and reds. Then sophomore year it was very bohemian, on that verge, it was cute. Then, junior year it also merged with more a sophisticated style in a way. The clothes were really simple but the jewelry made it fancier I guess. And since then it’s been kind of whatever I’ve been feeling because I was always like, “no, that’s not going to work” but now I just go for it.
Who are some people that inspire your style?
I’ve never really thought of that. I don’t know, I guess it really just depends. When I did love the Bohemian style it was all about Vanessa Hudgens and whenever she was shown anywhere. And now it’s just kind of like, if i see something i like i’ll just wear it. If it’s like Kendall Jenner is wearing something i’ll be like, score.
What sort of tones do you like to wear now?
Now personally i love wearing, it’s going back to like earth, but like the lighter tones. So it’d be more like cremes, olives and sometimes i’ll throw in like a red just because that looks good.
What is your favorite piece to wear?
I do love dresses. Theyre so, i used to have a thing where i hated dresses but now i love them. They’re simple and i’m always changing for dance or something so it makes it a lot easier. And you can keep it casual or dress up in a dress.
Junior year you had a big chop on your hair. Did that affect your style?
Yeah actually it really did, oddly enough, I cut off tons of inches off my hair. It kind of inspired me to not only play around with my hair but clothing styles which is why from then on i was like “you know what? If i’m confident in what i’m wearing, why not? It inspired confidence
How does confidence come into play with your style?
Well there’s a lot of thing revolving around dress-code and like maybe against some things in that. As long as I think the person is confident in wearing it, it’s obviously not offensive wearing it in anyway, like go for it. You’re the one wearing it, I mean you bought it for a reason you might as well flaunt it. I didn’t tell you not to buy it.
How does style change with season?
During the summer you see the bohemian me. Like put me in coachella. When it comes to fall you clearly see the difference in cardigans all the time, cute boots, high knee socks – those kinds of things. Dresses are still a must but i’ll always pair them with socks or boots. Gotta keep warm That’s a big problem, especially in winter. In winter i love overcoats and trench coats, and everything. I think that adorable. I relaized last year i only wore sweatshirts maybe three times during winter. Leather jackets too, like change it up why not?
Does Jewelry still have a ig part in your outfits?
Yeah! I think it does. Because like i look at my bathroom countertop and i see a whole bunch of jewelry that ive worn in hte past week and i relaize “oh that really made it a lot dofferent”
