The varsity tennis team had a big win over Granite Bay High School’s tennis team this past weekend, winning five matches, over Granite Bay’s four matches.

After 20 years of continuously falling short of beating Granite Bay’s Varsity tennis team, senior captain Juliet Oliver felt the win was well deserved.

Oliver said that the team was not intimidated by the previous record between the two schools, and Granite Bay underestimated the skills of the new team.

Oliver said the players “stuck to our training and played our game.”

The win came down to the last doubles game, tied 4-4 in matches, where the Tigers pulled out the needed win.

Although the team came through in the end, Oliver believes that they need to continue training to improve their skills. She believes that because there are so many new players on the team, the team has to work together to get comfortable with each other’s playing styles to play as a team, rather than as individuals.

The Tigers plays next against Cosumnes Oak On September 8th.
