Last week, the varsity football team hit the road again for their final preseason game and defeated the River Valley Falcons by a score of 34-6. In the third straight convincing win for the Tigers – the Tigers won 42-23 against Rio Linda and 38-0 against Chico – they were once again anchored by a strong rushing attack.

The Tiger’s leading rusher, Brendan McMinn, broke out for 213 total yards and three touchdowns. According to McMinn, the consistent Tiger rushing attack opened up opportunities for the passing game.

“It was really effective how we ran the ball,” McMinn said. “Because of that we were really able to throw the ball on third down and when we needed to.”

The defense was also able to produce at a productive rate and pressure the Falcons’ quarterback, according to McMinn.

“On defense we run a zone coverage, and I really think that we confused the young quarterback,” McMinn said. “We also wrapped up really well on our tackles.”

Next week, the Tigers have a bye before opening up CVC play against the Del Campo Cougars.
