After a second preseason blowout victory over the Rio Linda Knights last Friday, the varsity team will hit the road again and travel to Yuba City to take on the River Valley Falcons tomorrow night.

The Falcons are 0-2 so far this year but their losses have come from two formidable opponents, Wood High School and Cosumnes Oaks High School. Despite being shut out by Cosumnes Oaks in week one, they showed in week two that they have the capacity to be a very high-power offense, scoring 46 points against Wood.

Their offense has averaged just over 170 rushing yards and 90 passing yards per game with the help of senior running back Dylan De La Vega. Averaging 21 carries and 133 yards per game, De La Vega is an offensive standout that the Tiger defense will have to keep its eyes on.

The defense unit for the Falcons has really struggled this year. Last week, they allowed Wood to torch them through the air, surrendering 303 pass yards to the backup quarterback. The defensive struggles do not stop there, as they also gave up 196 rushing yards to five rushers last week. Despite these struggles, the River Valley pass rush has proved solid, averaging three sacks a game.

Despite being preseason, this game is a great chance for the Tigers to prove themselves as a strong contender in the Central Valley Conference. The Falcons were shut out 28-0 last week against the Cosumnes Oaks Wolfpack, a definite playoff contender. A dominating win tomorrow night for the Tigers would cement them as a real playoff threat in the CVC.
