VARSITY

The varsity volleyball team fell to the Pleasant Valley Vikings in their second non-conference match of the year with scores of 25-22, 26-24 and 25-23.

The team lost in a similar fashion in their previous game, losing in three sets against the Saint Francis Troubadours.

Junior hitter Sydney Richardson believes that the team played down to the level of Pleasant Valley and not not to their normal potential. Richardson mentioned that the Tigers were ahead for the majority of the game but would fall apart in crucial points of the game.

While it is still the beginning of the season, Richardson felt that the team did not play to their best ability.

“I think we are still getting comfortable playing with each other,” Richardson said. “We were not as organized as we usually are and we did not talk as much as we usually do.”

Richardson had hoped for a win against the Vikings but still has high expectations for the season. She hopes the team will be able to make it to playoffs but feels that they need to play together and better as a team in order do so.

The Tigers play their next game against the Placer Hillmen and Richardson hopes for their first win in the preseason.
JV

The JV girls volleyball team took on the Pleasant Valley Vikings last night, winning two of three sets and earning its first victory of the season. Sophomore setter Madison Janney thinks the team started off slow but began to pick it up as the match went on.

“It took us a while to warm up to playing together and we were a little shaken up,” Janney said. “We didn’t know what to expect but we came together in the end and played well.”

Janney thinks the two freshman the team pulled up, Kate Slack and Shay Lesniewski, have been helping out the team a lot.

“They’ve both been doing really well keeping up with the JV level,” Janney said. “I think they will help our team out a lot this year.”

The Tigers travel to Placer High School next Tuesday to take on the Hillmen, looking for another win.

FRESHMAN

The freshman girls volleyball team picked up their second win of the season yesterday, beating the Pleasant Valley Vikings in two sets with scores of 26-24 and 25-18.
Setter Samantha Beaman thinks the team played very well, as the players are starting to become accustomed to each other.

“We played very well in both sets and we are really starting to gel as a team despite it being early in the season,” Beaman said. “Hopefully we can keep improving as the season goes on.”

The Tigers travel to Placer High School next Tuesday in search for their third win.
