The Tiger Band and Guard Season

May 17, 2023

The RHS Tiger Band and Guard 2022-2023 season has recently come to an end. Months and months filled with dancing, music, and friendships. Junior band member and Band Council Historian Jessie Robles recalls her expectations from long ago, at the beginning of the season.

“For the fall we did pretty good because we didn’t know what to expect because there were a lot of new things we were trying out this year, especially in the winter,” Robles said.

Senior guard-performer and Band Council President Lauren Anderson’s expectations for this season were high and hopeful.

“I had like, pretty high expectations just because it was my last year and just kind of excited to get the season going, especially since it’s the last one,” Anderson said.

From the summer of last year to just this past month, the band and guard had worked for months to perfect what they were presenting to their competitions.

“Performances were actually really good, we worked really hard during the season to have those good ones and we only had four, but I think we put all on our field for all of them, so it was really good,” Anderson said.

Robles believes that a key part of her success this season was the tight-knit and efficient teamwork. Each band member prepared for months and has helped the season go smoothly.

“Everyone put in their part, we all did our things, especially with all the leaders that we have in this program.” Robles said. “They’re all really great and I really love working with everyone.

Sadly, being a senior, this is Anderson’s final Guard season. She is beyond satisfied with the season she gets to call her last.

“Especially being a senior and getting to do all that stuff for the last time with all my friends, it was very fun and very exciting and I think we went out with a bang and it was really fun,” Anderson said.

Robles on the other hand, still has one year to go. She is thankful for this season, but excited to see what comes next for the RHS Tiger Band and Guard.

“Made a lot of new friendships, I have a lot more experience for next year and I think it’s gonna be great,” Robles said.
