Powderpuff Makes its Return to RHS

April 17, 2023

RHS’s famous game of Powderpuff is returning soon in the last week of April. The game allows girls of all grades to play flag football together and have fun at the end of the school year. Students have two weeks to prepare for the game.

“Powderpuff’s an awesome event, exciting in terms of it’s just a chance for everyone to be involved. It’s just an event, it’s an activity, not an official sport,” Josh Errecart said. “One week in the spring usually anyone can play, no experience, no skill necessary and it’s three days of practice and one night of flag football games.”

The Seniors will be playing the freshman, the sophomores will play the juniors, and the last two teams will face each other in the championship game.

“I’m so hype I’ve been bulking, actually I’ve been ready for powderpuff juniors are going to win 100%,” Mayce Emery said.

Girls wanting to participate can show up to the three days of practices before the final game on April 28th.

“I think sophomores are lightwork we’re gonna run through them. I don’t really care who wins, seniors or freshman we’re beating either team, I’m confident,” Emery said.

Boys from each grade will coach the girls through the week and cheer them on.

“Yeah I’m pretty excited. I heard we’re playing the freshman, that’s kind of crazy. I think that’s gonna be an easy dub,” Parker Hellekson said. “I mean our team kind of got cut out short last year, I think this year we’re coming back for revenge and we’re seniors now so I think there’s no reason for us to not to win it all.”

There will be tryouts for coaches for Powderpuff but no tryouts for girls wanting to play.

“I know Carson [Errecart] last year after we lost he quickly went home just he’s been studying he’s been on Huddle ever since making all the plays and we’re coming back for revenge we’re back in blood,” Hellekson said.
