Tyler, The Creator of another astounding album
April 13, 2023
In the year 2021 on June 25th, rap artist, Tyler the Creator made the grand release of his new album, “Call Me If You Get Lost”. This album was quite successful as it made the best rap album in the 2022 Grammy Awards in addition to album of the year for the BET awards in not only 2021 but as well in 2022. Since this album was highly appreciated by Tyler’s fans, there has been a new release, an extension of ‘CMIYGL’, “CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST: The Estate Sale”. This new album includes old music from his previous CMIYGL album as well as unreleased music and demos.
From ‘SIR BAUDELAIRE’ to ‘SAFARI’, the OG album still remains in its iconic form. This new album includes eight new unreleased songs, three of which feature other big rap artists. These new features include artists in different songs, adding a great essence to ‘STUNTMAN’ feat. Vince Staples, ‘WHARF TALK’ feat. A$AP Rocky, and 2020 demo, ‘BOYFRIEND, and GIRLFRIEND’ feat. YG. These three bangers aren’t the only new editions to his album as a few other songs are in the album as well. The album’s other amazing hits consist of, ‘EVERYTHING MUST GO’, ‘WHAT A DAY’, ‘DOGTOOTH’, ‘HEAVEN TO ME’, and finally, ‘SORRY NOT SORRY’.
All of these songs are great additions to Tyler’s discography, despite the many Tyler haters. Although this was a great album, personally, it’s almost agreeable to see where these haters are coming from. Each song written by Tyler The Creator is hard to distinguish as individuals when it comes to being new to the millions that listen to his music. Most of his music sounds pretty similar to each other, making certain songs of his a bit more enjoyable than others. Although many may believe that this is a way of dissing Tyler, it’s not. Personally, it adds a bit of essence to his music and is enjoyable to listen to. Those who are willing to sit through hours of Tyler’s discography and not get tired are great listeners, and it’s because overall, his music isn’t bad.
‘The Estate Sale’ contained some outstanding content, with a personal favorite of mine, ‘BOYFRIEND, GIRLFRIEND’ and a cliche as well, ‘DOGTOOTH’. The demo, ‘BOYFRIEND, GIRLFRIEND’ is upbeat and enjoyable to listen to. It has a beautiful rhythm and bop to it that allows listeners to get up and dance and bop their heads to. This song is a bit underrated as it has a great flow to it. ‘DOGTOOTH’ on the other hand has received its deserved recognition. Although this recognition was earned due to the song’s large popularity through its new found ‘trendiness’ on Tik Tok, it’s still acceptable. It’s due to the great lyrics and flow that it should be on Tyler’s second most listened to song at the current moment, not because of Tik Tok. The use of social media apps such as Tik Tok, Twitter, and Instagram, mainly Tik Tok, usually boost the rate of listening time for major modern musical artists such as Steve Lacy, Taylor Swift, and of course, Tyler The Creator.
Overall, this album was a great success as it contributed a few great new songs to the playlists of many. Even with negative reviews of Tyler’s music, the fact still stands that these are huge bangers. This album is a great listen even if it’s simply just the original version of ‘CMIYGL’. The Estate Sale earns its five stars as it is definitely worth the attention and love that it is continuing to receive through several social media outlets across the internet.
