TMNT: Ooze is back in the news

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is one of the most popular media franchises and has been highly regarded since its release in 1984. Recently a New trailer for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Mutant Mayhem was released, it shows the new versions of the turtles being closer to children than adults, unlike most adaptations. It shows the Turtles doing things that most kids with access to weapons would do, chopping watermelons and getting themselves hurt.

 It has a star-studded cast with the likes of Seth Rogen, Post Malone, Ice Cube, Jackie Chan, and many others lending their talent to the film. It looks like the movie will most likely be an origin story and will follow the turtles fighting an army of mutants including iconic ones like Bebop, Rocksteady, and some less popular ones like Superfly and Genghis Frog. The main ninja turtles are played by actual teenagers which makes the characters seem real. It seems like the teenage part of Teenage mutant ninja turtles will actually be a part of the story.

Mutant Mayhem is a step in a different direction for the Turtles movies considering it’s an animated movie as opposed to the recent live-action films. The movie’s animation is reminiscent of Spider-Man Into The Spider-Verse with the comic book art style the Spider-Verse influence is very apparent throughout the trailer. The different character designs seen are all great looking making each character look unique and recognizable. Even the seemingly unimportant characters in the trailer look great. 

There is some controversy over the design of April O’Neil even though it is fairly accurate to the original comic book design of the character as well as recently used designs. This has led to the trailer having tons of dislikes on youtube and while there are valid criticisms of the trailer most boil down to the character design.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Mutant Mayhem Looks like it will be an exciting release for this year. If everything goes right this could be one of the better-animated films to come out although, with such a stacked lineup for animated movies, it could fall behind if not done right.
