Senior Lolana Madrid is one of the captains on the Varsity Girl’s Basketball team and has been dominating the league, averaging 25 points per game. Madrid believes most of her success over the course of the season came from hard work, practice, and the responsibilities that come with being one of the team captains.
“It’s given me lots of confidence leading the team and wanting to be a role model,” Madrid said.
Madrid’s success comes from work on the court and more than just physical skill off the court. She is a key motivator for the girl’s basketball team, always keeping team spirit high.
“She is really competitive and has that drive and never gives up when we’re down,” Aubin said. “She’s always there for the team and always tries to get us the comeback”
Madrid’s success not only comes from hard work but also from her mentality. She is always striving for the win no matter the odds of the game.
Teammate Alyssa Lopes believes that Madrid’s commitment to the team is like no other and gives her all no matter if they are up or down and in the end just wants to have fun with everyone.
“Being a leader she pushes to her fullest no matter if its and easy team or a hard team,” Lopes said.
Madrid is a senior, meaning her Roseville basketball career is coming to an end. She finished her career with a bang though, leading the team to a clear turnaround from last year, and optimism for years to come.
