Hogwarts Legacy is the most recent game in the Harry Potter series, set in the 1800s Hogwarts legacy tries to capture what it would be like to have your own adventure in the Harry Potter universe. Hogwarts Legacy lets you create your own customizable character and choose your own house, your own wand, and even customize your room and creature sanctuary.

The game allows you to become more powerful with a system similar to games like destiny with different rarities of gear around the world allowing you to change your stats and grow more powerful. But if the really good gear doesn’t look good on your character you can use the transmog system allowing you to make your character look how you want regardless of how good the item’s stats are.

The game features a whole open world map, featuring recognizable places like the Forbidden Forest and Hogsmeade with dungeons scattered across the world. While exploring and going to classes you can find ghosts, moving paintings, and shuffling suits of armor that make Hogwarts feel magical and breathe life into the setting making Hogwarts all the more immersive. The characters that are a part of missions are intractable, but students that aren’t important to the story and don’t really say anything.

Hogwarts Legacy features different enemies to fight, like trolls, goblins, and giant spiders along with duels against dark wizards, but that’s about it. The lack of enemy variety is a definite downside of this game. Having you fight the same enemies over and over leads to combat feeling tedious.

The game also features 31 different spells to use in combat and whatever else you want to do and fight throughout your Hogwarts journey. The game also allows you to fly on your broom around Hogwarts and the rest of the open world, although you can’t play Quidditch.

The game also has a stellar soundtrack with music that’s reminiscent of John Williams which truly gives the game a great feeling. Though it’s not all good, Hogwarts Legacy has some technical issues like pop in and giving your character a robot sounding voice.

Hogwarts Legacy also has some major controversy around it stemming from Harry Potter’s author, J.K. Rowling, and her frequent transphobic comments on Twitter leaving some fans to debate whether or not it’s ok to support her works.

If you like Harry Potter and ever wished you could have your own Hogwarts adventure, Hogwarts legacy is definitely something you should give a try, if you can justify the steep price tag.
