Marvel’s newest movie release, Eternals, is set to premiere tonight. The feedback from the new trailer was mostly positive and fans seem to be excited to see this new group of heroes.

The Eternals are a group of immortals with their own respective powers. They have lived on Earth for over 7000 years and were commanded by the Celestials to protect humans from Deviants, alien-like beasts. The leader of the Deviants is Warlord Kro, who is like the Eternals, being ageless and possessing strong regenerative powers.

The movie will take place after the events of Endgame and it appears that all of the Eternals are trying to bring the group together to defeat the returning Deviants. It seems like the Eternals have spread out all over the world and they will run into challenges while trying to find everyone.

Along with the reveal of the Deviants, the Celestials also made an appearance, mainly the Celestial Eson the Searcher. We’ve been seeing a lot of very powerful beings lately in the MCU with Kang the Conqueror from Loki, The Watcher from What If, and now the Celestials. We’ve seen Celestials like Ego and Knowhere but the ones that appeared in the trailer are much more powerful. From the concept art, it looks like we’ll see multiple Celestials from the comics like Jemiah the Analyzer, Nezarr the Calculator, and Hargen the Measurer.

The choice of the Eternals as one of Marvel’s newest releases is an interesting one, because it seems like much of the MCU fanbase doesn’t even know who the Eternals are. Even major readers of the comics might not have remembered this group. They are obviously very important beings closely linked with the Celestials, but I think the Eternals could’ve used a show rather than a full movie. Hawkeye might’ve been a better choice to give a movie but I guess we’ll see. Despite the trailer being released around the same time as the Spiderman: No Way Home trailer, fans still seem fairly excited to see this movie.

When it comes to movies, Marvel has been unstoppable for the past few years and hopefully the Eternals will be another example of that. Maybe this movie could also cause people to go and read the comics and learn more about this group. It’s nice to see that Marvel is starting to use a lot of characters from the comics, especially some of the most powerful ones. I’m not sure how they are going to affect the heroes that are already part of the MCU, but I’m confident that Marvel will do a great job with it.
