Senior Maria Santa Roza took a turn for the long run, to hopefully pursue her dream of a better education and a better lifestyle. Although it was hard, Maria and her mom sold everything they had to become a resident here in California, leaving behind Brazil as a transfer student, and leaving behind her everyday lifestyle. They did this to live her dream of a good education and a better life, doing her best to create new opportunities for herself and her family.

“My mom sold our house, everything to get tickets for the plane to come here. I left all my friends, my family behind, but it wasn’t really a big problem for me… It was really hard when I first started because nobody was talking to me, but I can have a better education and hopefully make new friends.”
