The POTW for the week of December 8-14 is wrestler Jake Stone. The senior took first overall in his weight class and won all three matches.

Stone recorded a first round pin over his first opponent. He followed up by pinning his next opponent in the second round.

In finals, he came out on top winning 8-1.

Stone transferred from Oakmont High School last year, but did not wrestle during his junior year.

He believed that taking a year off from wrestling made it tough to get back, but by the outcome he had a good start to the season.

“It being my first tournament back and I was two weight classes up. I wrestled good considering that, but I definitely have some stuff to work on that I’ll change from match to match,” Stone said.
Stone will continue to work on his skills, with high hopes of the team making it far in state.

“I think there’s a new dynamic this year,” Stone said. “We’re going to do really good this year and build off what they did last year.”
