Roseville’s Positive Behavior Interventions and Support committee has created a traveling ROAR store to give students easier access to the shop. The mobile cart features the items usually sold at student services, such as lanyards, pop-sockets and mini tigers.

PBIS coordinator Jamie Handling said the goal is to get more students more excited and inspired to earn ROAR bucks. 

“Last year the PBIS team was trying to figure out how to better reach more students with the ROAR items. Someone suggested having a mobile ROAR store and I just ran with it,” Handling said. “I was brainstorming ideas. We had talked about a sports wagon, and then I came upon a shopping cart and I thought this could be brilliant.” 

Interns from the Wellness Center take the cart out during Mondays during the single lunch so students can exchange ROAR bucks for items. 

PBIS committee member junior Nick Dominguez believes this will be the first step in giving ROAR bucks more value. 

“I just think the biggest thing is that needs improvement is that ROAR bucks are worth something and teachers do hand them out to students,” Dominguez said. “They’re a great incentive that we just need more circulation so students can feel good when they get them and reap the rewards they receive for following the ROAR code.”
