Roseville High School has invested approximately $1,889,000 in on-campus renovations, according to Roseville Joint Union High School District facilities director, Scott Davis.

RHS’ cafeteria kitchen received a $1,200,000 remodel, including the addition of walk-in freezers and ovens. This is the first renovation of the kitchen since its construction in 1956.

When we started [the renovation,] it still looked like it was 1956,” Davis said. “It wasn’t up to code and it was definitely time to perform this work.”

RHS staff moved the cafeteria lunch lines to the northeast corner of the cafeteria as a result of the renovations.

[We’re trying to] make it a little easier on everybody who works in the kitchen,” RHS principal David Byrd said. “[It] shouldn’t have any effect on lunch lines. [We’re] still serving out of six lines.”

The cafeteria renovations are scheduled to be finished by mid-October.

The $265,000 100 and 200 wings roof replacements are substantially complete. The conversion of RM 400 into an independent living skills classroom, costing $359,000, is scheduled to be complete by the end of September, and the $62,000 conversion of portables into offices is substantially complete.

The funding to complete these projects came from developer fees and RJUHSD’s general fund via deferred maintenance.

“For all our campuses, there’s obviously gratification in completing a project,” Davis said. “It betters the school’s community.”
