Roseville High School junior and editor-in-chief of Eye of the Tiger News Marc Chappelle, will study and develop his journalistic knowledge over the course of a five-week programs for high school journalists and editors, taught by distinguished journalists and professors.

“I’m most excited about leaving my Roseville bubble and what I’m used to, and going to a completely different place and trying something completely different from what I’ve been normally doing,” Chappelle said.

According to Chappelle, the program’s education and opportunity is exciting but what’s most important is being able to do what he loves while adapting to a new atmosphere and culture.

“Being able to leave the environment that I know and do something that I love, is really exciting to me [because] it’s going to be completely different, but also really familiar and exciting,” Chappelle said.

Chappelle believes that this is an experience to not only further his journalistic mind, but to also expand his social boundaries with students passionate about the same thing he is.

“We can get so hung up in our routines, it’s important that we switch it up, I’m so grateful because it’s one of the best opportunities for me to switch it up completely,” Chappelle said.

“I think I’m going to grow a lot as a social person because I’m thrown in an environment with 80 other kids from around the world, and we’re all interested in the same thing.”

According to Chappelle he will be put through journalistic hands-on assignments and workshops, he hopes to strengthen his love and knowledge for journalism through working with and listening to fellow journalists. He hopes to take his new comprehension of Journalism back to the ‘Eye of the Tiger’ news organization.

“I’m excited to take what I learn [in the program] over the summer and take it back to Eye of the Tiger, because I want to enrich the program which I lead.”
