Boys basketball gets revenge on Yuba City Honkers

BELLA AYALA

Last night the boys varsity basketball team defeated the Yuba City Honkers by a score of 77-71, after falling to the Honkers earlier this season.

The Tigers remain undefeated in league with a record of 4-0, improving to 14-6 overall. The boys are tied for first place in league with the Inderkum Tigers who they will face next week.

Junior Tommy Spencer believes the boys were able to win because of their high energy and ability to adjust throughout the game.

“Overall we played with high energy and I think that’s what led us to our win,” Spencer said. “In the second quarter we started to slow up and let them back in the game but we made some good adjustments at half time and we were able to knock down some shots and we played good defense.”

Spencer thinks that one of the biggest differences from the last time they played the Honkers to last night is their team chemistry.

“The last time we played them we didn’t have as much team chemistry and didn’t have the same connection,” Spencer said. “This time we wanted it more than them.”

Next Tuesday the boys varsity basketball team looks to remain undefeated in league and will play the Bella Vista Broncos who are currently 2-3 in league.
