New MacBook Air and iPad Pro innovate
October 31, 2018
Recently, Apple unveiled and two new devices to the public, The Macbook Air and iPad Pro.
The new models have made enormous improvements to their predecessors, with new technology, more powerful specs, and so on. They are available for pre-order.
The new MacBook Air now comes with a handful of features. Touch ID is a new feature to Macbooks that allows you to unlock your computer with just a finger, quickly and reliably, along with the ability to access lock documents, or to make purchases online without pulling out your credit card or without pressing a single key on the keyboard. Speaking of keyboard, the MacBook now uses a butterfly keyboard, which helps with stability, responsiveness, and comfort, with LED-backlight keys to give a helping hand when typing in the dark.
The Touchpad is now 20% larger than the last gen model, and uses a Force Touch, which means that the touchpad doesn’t click and senses when you’re pressing hard enough, which it vibrates, making it feel like you’re clicking.
Now to specs. The New Macbook Air has highly ramped up its power compared to the older models. The top model has the power to hold up to 1.5 Terabytes of storage in a solid-state drive (SSD), and you can have 16 Gigabytes of Memory, making your computer capable of doing multiple things at once without any problems. Apple will be putting an 8th gen Intel i5 processor into the New MacBook, to give your device the ability to run beefy programs, or maybe for gaming to some extent. The speakers have been improved to give a deeper sound with more bass and clarity. Wi-Fi technology has been enhanced along with the integration of Bluetooth 4.2.
Overall the 2018 MacBook Air is a big step from Apple to their laptops, but it won’t be cheap at all. Starting price for their 13-inch model is $1,199, and if you’re willing to fully max out the 15-inch, it will cost a whopping $2,599.
The brand new iPad Pro made the biggest changes compared to its predecessors, to the point where it doesn’t even look like an iPad unless you see the Apple logo on the back of the device.
Following the iPhone trend, the headphone jack and home button were removed, making the bezels thinner and having the on screen bar which allows you to navigate the device. Face ID is implemented, so that you can unlock your iPad, make purchases, login to services, etc. with just your face. The new A12X Bionic chip is Apple’s newest, fastest processor which they claim to be faster than almost all PC Laptops.
One thing that Apple has been criticized about in the past is that none of their mobile devices can multitask, but now that’s changed. Users will now be able to watch YouTube videos and message their friends at the same time.
Apple implemented magnets around the sides of the iPad Pro so users can let their Apple Pencil stick to the side, while charging the pencil itself wirelessly. One big change is that the charging port has changed from the Lightning Port to a USB-C port. This will allow you to directly plug a cable to a camera, another iPhone, etc. The new cameras have been improved in quality, and TrueDepth will allow for portrait selfies, Animoji and AR experience. The iPad Pro is only 5.9mm Thick, making it the thinnest iPad ever made. Battery life varies but can last up to 10 hours. Starting price will be $799 with the top model costing $1,899.
